While now some of the Jaimini dashas have come into effective use, the nakshatra dashas of Parashara needed extensive and original research to discover effective predictive tools. I had asked N.K.Sharma and }hanjhi to do some work on Yogini Dasha many years ago and they produced a.book which has been in use now. The fascination of Yogini dasha is that it seems to be the best of dashas for timing events even in cases where the uncertainty of birth time with slight error can give degrees of Moon which would need rectification. In the case of Yogini dasha, with the unrectified degrees of Moon, events can still be times with remarkable closeness. A controversy arose in the case of Yogini mainly because of its shortness it being a dasha of only thirty six years. Life is not a story of exact replication of events of life of the first thirty six years in the next thirty six years. How is this riddle to be unravelled? In a research group of Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan, 1 discussed this with students and suggested many approaches which were: 1. If the first cycle of Yogini Dasha starts with janma nakshatra or the birth constellation, the second one could possibly start with Lagna or Sun etc. It would then give us different starting points for each of the cycle of Yogini Dasha. Will it solve the problem? 2. Could we follow the Chara Dasha pattern and keep moving in Yogini Dasha in a systematic and chronological order as the nakshatras as spread on the zodiac? May be this could solve the problem of not repeating mechanically the events of the first thirty six years of one’s life. 3. The third method could be repeating the order of Yogini Dasha exactly as it is but changing the starting point of the second and third cycles from the next nakshatra so as not to the same horoscopic pattern for interpretation. This needs explaining. If in the case of a person born with Chitra Nakshatra, the starting 4

dasha will be Mangala, next Pingala, Dhanya, BhraMari, Bhadrika, Ulka, Siddha and Sankata ending with with the cycle ending with Uttarashada. The next cycle could begin with Sharvan which is in Makara and therefore the changed starting point could be the pivotal point for the intepretation of the horoscope. It thus will follow the Chara dasha method of Jaimini retaining the nakshatra basis for astrological readings. Different students worked on it and came out with their own researches some of which have been published in the Journal of Astrology both in Hindi and English. Then one day Mr. V.P.Goel told me and the class that he had solved the riddle and briefly it was: 1. Yogini Dasha will have to be progressed and the starting point for each cycle will have to be different to avoid mechanical repetition of the readings for the first cycle. It was logical and he demonstrated with some horocopes both in the class room and at my place. 2. The one major problem in Yogini Dasha is that with only eight Yogini it can cover only twenty four nakshatras out of twenty seven, leaving out three or necessitating the clubbing of the the three with other nakshatras to make it all a harMonious scheme. Mr. Goel solved this problem by taking up the first three nakshatras, Ashwini, Bharani and Krittika and clubbing them with Poorva Bhadrapada, Uttara Bhadrapad and then Revati. 3. The next stage was more challenging. It was to test on given horoscopes, logically and systematically known events and explain them applying the normal principles of interpretation. He did it in many case and particularly in mine in which he showed how in the year 2000 the progressed dasha in my case would reach the eighth house of serious sickness. This appealed and off and on [ tried this method and found it working and explaining very cogently the event that happened. 4. Now came the final stage of “blind testing” when | gave him some horoscopes and asked him to explain the nature or hint at it, in a given year. | gave to him the horoscope of an Indian living in USA to whom I had given major predictions at a critical stage in his life afte tracing some past events through my method of composite approach. Mr. Goel located the areas affected in the horoscope and the achievement or agony of the periods concerned. He has given that horoscope at the end of the 5 --- ## Page 5 = Effectively through Yogini Dasha Forward chapter entitled “Classroom Testing”. I have seen the manuscript of Mr. Goel and have suggested to him that he should include some chapter illustrating 1. The calculation of Yogini Dasha 2. The method of progression which is the soul of this research. 3. How in the progressed horoscope the changed Lagna gives a different starting point with planets changing their placement "and ownership. 4. In writing a book we have to keep in mind the three level of students we come across, the beginner, the middle level and the advanced ones. The beginner should be able to feel confident that he can handle Yogini Dasha with confidence, the middle level student should feel that he himself could proceed with his own researches on the lines given in the book and the advanced student should feel rewarded with the addition of new dasha with its potent uses to his repertoire of predictive techniques. I am happy that with this book the riddle of Yogini Dasha is solved very satisfactorily and there can be improvements on this research which is a major breakthrough. It is necessary to state so here because the late Hardeo Sharma Trivedi never used Yogini Dasha because he thought that the second and third cycles of this dasha would lead to mechanical interpretation. But [ know of many Garhwali astrologers who use Yogini Dasha invariably and prefer it to any other dasha for their major predictions. 1 also know that they have some secret technique of progressing it which they have not revealed like what is known as the Paramayu dasha of Kumaon (Nainatal and Almorah areas) which is used only to calculate the span of life. The Paramayu dasha works well, resembles Vimshottari dasha but its calculation remains a secret even now. Similarly, if one riddle of Yogini Dasha is solved, as has happened in this research, we can proceed confidently to its multifarious uses and application to many aspects of life.

They are being skipped because they have been bracketted with other nakshatras in this scheme of progression. In Yogini dasha, only twenty four nakshatras can be accomodated with three becoming superfluous apparently. But these three cannot be overlooked and omitted. Bracketting them with other nakshatras, solves the problem as can be seen in the illustrated examples of this book. Having done that now follow the uninterrupted scheme thus. 23. Rohini 24. Mrigshira Sankata Keep this table before and mark your janma nakshatra and proceed as given here. For instance if ypu are born in Mrighshira nakshatra the birth has taken place in Sankata (but Mrighshira). After you have completed thirty six years of your life you will again get Sankata but it will start from Hasta. Treating Hasta as you progressed horoscope proceed to analyse the events. Here, those who know Jaimini Chara dasha will notice the progression very orderly and in keeping with the changing hues and colours of life’s changed pattern and kalaeidoscope. Yours

K.N.Rao, the fountain head of new researches and modern application of Astrology. Our research class in the semester Jan. 2002 took up Yogini Dasha and its application in timing of events. The challange was to crack the riddle of progression of Yogini in diffrent cycles of yogini. The method presented in this book is the outcome of efforts of the author, the seed of this inquiry was sown by Sh. Rao. Our Sages have commanded that Vimshotari and Yogini dasha have universal application and should be used in Kaliyug. Vimshotari have a full cycle of 120 years in nine nahshatras. One cycle of Yogini is almost one third of Vimshotri dasha. All 27 nakshatras contribute 123 years of Yogini dasha. Yogini is thus micro Vimshotar! :'asha and delineation is to be done with refrence to nakshatra 1070 Each Yogini originate fron three or four nakshaizs. Three nakshatras of each yogini cover all twelve signs in navamshas. Three Yoginis Bhramari, Bhadrika and Ulka originate from four :akshatras. Two nakshatras have similar navamsha signs and are व्ल together which fulfill the cyclic continuity of the dasha scheme, It is therefore important to mention nakshatra along with yogini. Progressing the Yogini periods with the Vimshotari rakshatra lords is the key to the analysis of Yogini. It is equally applicable to divisional charts and transit.

I am grateful to Sh. K.N.Rao for his guidance. Most of the example chart have been taken from books of Sh.Rao. My prayers to Lord MAHADEVA who is the giver of yogini dasha. I sincerely hope that this book will be of help to all lovers of Astrology.

Engineering(Honours) from B.H.U. He belongs to the Indian Engineering Service and after successful stints in various capacities in the Ministry of Defence he branched off to various elite private sector organisations and held senior managerial position in India and abroad. These yoginis have individual lords and Dasha periods from one year to eight years to make total of thirty-six years in one cycle of operation. The sequence of operation of these Yoginis, the Mahadasha period and the dasha lords are as under.

Yogini dasha ruling at the time of epoch is based on the Nakshatra (Star) occupied by Moon. The Nakshatra number is counted from Ashwini, which is taken as one. Add three to the Nakshatra number so arrived. Divide the sum by eight. Ignore the quotient. The remainder obtained represent the Yogini dasha operating at the time of epoch. The remainder number is the Sr. No. of Table I. Abhijit nakshatra is not taken into account.

Full Dasha period of a yogini spans one Nakshatra. The degrees remaining to be traversed by Moon in the Nakshatra occupied is the proportional balance of Dasha at birth/epoch. Order of Dasha The yoginis follows the sequence given in above table 1. After 12

one cycle of thirty-six years, the sequence is repeated in the same order.

Major periods of each yogini Dasha is further divided into eight sub periods corresponding to eight yoginis. All eight yoginis divide each major period in proportion to their individual major period. The first sub period belong to major Dasha lord and other periods follow in given order. A simple rule for finding the duration of sub period of P yogini in major period of Q yogini is; Sub period = Dasha years of Q x Dasha period of P x 10 are the number of days of sub period.

1. Dasha at birth — Moon is in Cancer at 12 degree 40 min. It is in Pushya Nakshatra. Pushya is 8" Nakshatra from Ashwini. Add 3 to 8, which gives 11. Divide 11 by 8. Remainder is 3. Third Dasha is of Dhanya and is the Dasha at birth. 2. Balance at birth — Pushya Nakshatra is from 3 deg. 20 min. to 16-deg. 40 min. The span is 13 deg. 20 min. From 12 deg. 40 min. moon is yet to cover 4 deg. 0 min. to reach end of Pushya. Dasha period of Dhanya is 3 years. Therefore balance of Dhanya will be 4 deg. 0 min. multiplied by three (Full period of Dasha) and divided by 13 deg. 20 min. This is converted into years, Months and days to give 10 Months 24 Days as balance of Dhanya Dasha. 3. Order of Dasha — Dasha at birth is Dhanya and the order is Dhanya, BhraMari, Bhadrika, Ulka, Siddha, Sankata, Mangla, Pingla and again Dhanya. 4. Sub periods — Suppose we want to know Siddha sub period in Ulka major. Multiply 6 by 7, which give 42. Again multiply it by 10. Result 420 is the number of days or one year two Months as the sub period of Siddha in Ulka major period and vice-versa. --- ## Page 9

Research One complete cycle of yogini Dasha is of thirty-six years only. It is very useful in narrowing down the period in timing of events. Compared to Vimshottari Dasha it has the maximum period of any one dasha as eight years against twenty years in vimshottari. A person can have three or more cycles of yogini in his lifetime. The results experienced are not similar in two periods of same yogini. The birth horoscope is fixed and so are the yoginis. Sages have connected these yoginis to nakshatras. There is a deeper meaning to this proposition. Vimshottari Dasha is also based on nakshatras and have same Dasha lord 4s the Nakshatra lord. In yogini the Dasha lord is different from the Nakshatra lord. Table 1 gives the nakshatras and the yogini associated with them along with their lords. If we see Table II, we note that Revati gives Ulka dasha and next Dasha should be of Siddha. The nakshatra Ashwini which is next in order gives BharaMari. Rohini is the next Nakshatra giving Siddha Dasha. The problem is to club twenty four yoginis with twenty seven nakshatras. This can be solved by comMonly sharing three nakshatras with other three nakshatras contributing same Yoginis. Three nakshatras Ashwini, Bharani and Kritika are dubbed with Poorvabhadrapad, Uttarbhadrapad and Revati respectively. A revised table for the progression of Yogini Dasha is now achieved and is as under; Research

Progress Lagna concept is the key to this analysis. To arrive at the progress Lagna we must keep the following points in mind; 17 --- ## Page 11 = Predict Effectively through Yogini Dasha 1. The progress Lagna is the sign which contain the nakshatra contributing the yogini dasha running. ः 2. All planets remain as they are in the birth chart. 3. When nakshatra contributing the yogini dasha is Dwipada or Tripada, the progress Lagna will change within the duration of dasha. The time of change of progress Lagna Is in proportion to the longitude of nakshatra in the signs. This have been clearly stated in the respective chapters of each affected dasha.

We now illustrate a example for full method of progression. A person is born with Moon in scorpio 16 deg. 12 min. and date of birth is 20th Dec. 1900. Refer to table Ill, We get that person is born in Bhramari yogini dasha. The balance of Bhramari at longitude of 16 deg. 00 min. is OY 02M 12 D. The difference between Moon at, birth and nearest longitude in table is 12M. Now refer to table 1४ and look under Bharamari for 12 M. We find the part as 22 days. Since the longitude of moon is more than 16 deg. the balance will be less for 16 deg. 12 min. Subtracting 22 days from OY 02M 12 0, we get OY 01M 20days as balance of Bhramari dasha at birth. The nakshatra occupied by Moon is Anuradha. The complete three cycles of yogini with nakshatra and the progress Lagna is drawn for this example. Ashadha. Starting Dasha is written with its Nakshatra. The order of Dasha and Nakshatra is followed as per yogini Dasha chart. The lord of Nakshatra is noted and the results are delineated. The sign containing the Nakshatra of which dasha is running is the Progressed Lagna for the duration of yogini Dasha. This progressed chart is analysed for the particular Dasha period. For Nakshatras falling in two signs, the sign becoming progressed Lagna is arrived by rule of - three. This Nakshatra lord and progress Lagna are given the prime importance. Three refrence points are created and analised; 1. Condition of Nakshatra lord in birth chart. 2. Condition of Nakshatra lord in progress chart. 3. Relation of Dasha lord from the placement of Nakshatra lord in progress chart.

When Rahu or Ketu become Nakshatra lord, they act as their despositor and the planet in conjuction with them. In any Dasha the sub period of Nakshatra lord generally fulfil the Promise. Any planet influenced by both Dasha and Nakshatra lord is Potent to deliver the promise in its sub period in any Dasha. Any planet influencing both Dasha and Nakshatra lord override the indications of that period. Eleventh house is house of expansion. Lord of eleventh and any Planet in eleventh is important. Transit Sage Parasher have directed in Chapter 3, Verse 6 of Brihat Parasher Hora Shastra that “From the condition of Planets and ascendent joining and departing from each other are deduced the persons good and bad effects”. This fully applies to the transit results of planets. Traditionally transit is seen from the Ascendent and natal Moon. Both these positions are fixed and so are the delineation for each round of the planets. However the mutual placement of planets in transit modify their results. In the present scheme of progression of ascendent with the Yogini dasha, we can apply the transit in progress chart. Like birth ascendent and Moon we have two progressed refrence points and are; 1.
